SCROLL

01 — BRIEF

Spontaneity of random video. Polish of a modern social app.

Most social platforms are built for waiting — browse, message, hope for a reply. Random video solves immediacy, then burns trust, safety, and anything worth keeping.

Vylo was designed as a full consumer product: iOS, matchmaking, messaging, location-aware discovery, safety systems, and a real-time backend. Immediate without anonymous. Social without becoming a dating app.

02 — PRODUCT LOOP

Discover → Match → Talk → Connect.

One lifecycle. Four surfaces. Complexity stays under the hood.

01

Discover

Ambient presence — who’s active nearby or farther out — without turning the app into a profile catalog.

02

Match

Queue in. Connect. Distance, language, interests, preferences, region — all behind one simple action.

03

Talk

WebRTC video with the person as the focus. Icebreakers stay light. Controls stay out of the way.

04

Keep

Add friends. Message later. Temporary encounters become lasting connections when they’re worth it.

03 — VISION

“See who's around.
Connect instantly.
Keep the people worth knowing.”

Not another feed. An ambient network that feels alive — then a path from a spontaneous call to a lasting connection.

04 — CORE EXPERIENCE

Four surfaces

01

Live Discovery

Activity over static profiles. The network feels alive before the first conversation starts.

02

Intelligent Matchmaking

Preferences and constraints evaluated in real time — without exposing the machinery to the user.

03

Real-Time Video

WebRTC at the center. Remote participant owns the screen. Controls stay secondary.

04

Friends & Messaging

A good call doesn’t have to disappear. Persist the people worth knowing.

05 — SAFETY

Safety as architecture — not an afterthought.

Precise locations never appear in discovery. Location is a matching signal, not a public pin. Spontaneity stays. Risk drops.

  • Facial age estimation
  • Liveness verification
  • Moderation controls
  • Report & block
  • Privacy-conscious location
  • Local · Nearby · Anywhere

06 — SYSTEM

Real-time system. Not CRUD dressed up.

07 — ENGINEERING

Hard problems. Soft surface.

  1. 01

    Presence at scale

Know who’s online, searching, matched, or gone — and keep that truth synchronized across concurrent sessions.

  2. 02

    Matchmaking without races

Score available users against preferences. No duplicate matches. No double-booking the same person.

  3. 03

    Ephemeral session state

Join, match, skip, drop, reconnect — in seconds. Durable data stays separate from live session state.

  4. 04

    Hide the machinery

Users never think about queues, ICE negotiation, or presence machines. Open. Find someone. Talk.

08 — INTERFACE

Minimal. Native. People first.

Discover · Video · Messages · Notifications · Profile. Content stays loud. Chrome stays quiet.

09 — ROLE & OUTCOME

One product. One system.

Designed and built end-to-end — product decisions feeding architecture directly. Not screens bolted onto an API. A complete real-time consumer system.

Vylo explores what social looks like when presence comes before profiles: find someone available right now, and start talking.
